The 25-year-old is presently on loan with Italian champions Juventus but has failed to score a single goal for the Turin club. The Dane has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season.

The report claims the German club's general manager, Frank Arnesen, was keen on signing the forward last summer before he joined Juventus. Hamburg are going to re-ignite their interest in bringing Bendtner to the Imtech Arena, at the end of this campaign.

Bendtner suffered a major blow last week when the Danish Football Association banned him from international football for the next six months. The striker took to social networking site Twitter to confess driving while under the influence of alcohol, on a trip back to Copenhagen.

"Dear friends, I was booked for a mild case of drink driving last night. It was a quiet night but I am very very sorry to all my friends and fans," the striker tweeted, adding, "It is not OK to drink and drive. I take full responsibility."

The Danish international has failed to impress during his time at the Emirates and should the German club meet Arsenal's valuation, Arsene Wenger could likely cash in on the player.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have suffered a blow in the reported pursuit of Swansea skipper Ashley Williams. The 28-year-old has hinted he will probably remain at Liberty Stadium for the next season. Williams' comments come after the Swans trounced Bradford City in the Capital one Cup final. Williams has been linked to both Arsenal and Liverpool.

"Can we keep the squad together? Hopefully. We've got a good squad here, we get on really well, we enjoy playing. I can't speak for other people or for the future because it's football. Is this the stability we need now? I think so. When we first got promoted, we just wanted to survive," the Daily Star quoted Williams as saying
