Huawei has released Android 5.1 Lollipop upgrade for Ascend Mate2. Huawei

Huawei has announced the rollout of Android 5.1 upgrade including EMUI 3.1 software for Ascend Mate2 model MT2-L03, powered by the quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor.

"Interested customers can download and install this first release version of the software now. Huawei will continue to enhance the software, even after this initial version is made available, to deliver the best experience to you, our customers. We look forward to your feedback," notes the company in a release note posted on the support site.

The Mate2 models with following software version can be upgraded to new Android Lollipop version.

  • MT2-L03 V100R001C00B126
  • MT2-L03 V100R001C00B148

Users looking for a manual installation method can check out the following guide. Before directly jumping to the upgrade guide, create a backup all data of your phone.

  • Click Backup application
  • Click Agree button
  • Click New backup
  • Choose the data you want to backup then click Back up button
  • Set password, then click Ok
  • When data backup completes, click Done

How to upgrade Ascend Mate2 to Android 5.1 Lollipop

Step-1: Download B309 (Android 5.1 Lollipop)

Step-2: You need a micro SD card of 4GB or more to save the downloaded file

Step-3: Format the micro SD card (This step is optional)

Step-4: Extract the B309.zip file, which you downloaded in step-1

Step-5: Copy the "dload" folder to the root directory of micro SD card

Step-6: Switch off your phone and insert the micro SD card into the phone

Step-7: Press and hold Volume Up and Volume Down keys simultaneously, then press Power button. When the phone turns on, release the Power button

Step-8: Your phone should boot and begin flashing. Once the installation is completed, the phone will restart

Step-9: You may enter Emergency Data dialog at the first boot. Choose Factory data reset and click Yes. Once the reset is completed, reboot your phone

Your Ascend Mate2 should now be updated with latest Android Lollipop firmware.
