Ash vs Evil Dead
Bruce Campbell will reprise his iconic role as the chainsaw-handed Ash in the upcoming horror series Starz

Ash vs Evil Dead, the much awaited horror series, will debut on Starz network in 2015 and will see Bruce Campbell returning as the chainsaw-handed Ash taking down the bloodthirsty ghosts.

The series begins 30 years after the Army Of Darkness, the third movie in the Evil Dead series. Ash, now an aging war veteran, lives an unknown life trying to forget the deadites.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Ash once again mistakenly awakens an army of evil spirits, following which he is forced to fight back the demons to stop the deadite plague that is destroying humanity.

"This is a guy who thought he could just quietly live a life of quiet desperation and—no," Campbell told the weekly. "He brings it back upon himself and the world, and he of all people must save the world from his own doing. That's classic Evil Dead. Ash is basically responsible for everything."

EW also released some pages of the infamous Necronomicon, also called the Book Of The Dead, the passages of which unleash terror when recited.

"He's the only one stupid enough to really tamper with those spirits," Sam Raimi told the weekly. "And he does. But he's also still a really good monster fighter. So, he's also going to be kicking some deadite buttocks, if you'll pardon the French."

In the upcoming series by Starz, Ash and his loyal sidekick Pablo will be seen driving the classic 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 while hunting the monsters.

The official synopsis of the horror series reads:

Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its "Evil" grip.

The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Burn Notice) in the role of Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless (Salem, Spartacus) as Ruby a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the evil outbreaks, Ray Santiago (Touch, Meet The Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash's loyal sidekick, Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past and Jill Marie Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.

Campbell teases that the trailer of Ash vs Evil Dead will be released during the San Diego Comic Con 2015. The show will premiere during fall 2015.

The first episode of the horror series is written by Ivan Raimi and Tom Spezialy, with Sam Raimi as the director and Spezialy as executive producer.
