A few lucky owners of Asus Transformer Pad TF300T in the US got the official Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update a week ago. Those who missed the official update in the US, Taiwan and other regions need not regret, thanks to Asus for releasing Jelly Bean firmware files that cover all regions globally.

All those users with unlocked bootloader or custom ROMs installed on their phones can now get the official updates by flashing the latest firmware files from Asus. These firmware files can be used only for a manual update and the installation procedure varies from the regular OTA (Over-The-Air) updates.

Important: Those who have already updated to the official US version or installed the global stock version for TF300T with official updates need not install this firmware. This firmware update is meant for only those who could not get the official update for some reason.

Prerequisites

  • The ROM and the instructions provided in this guide are applicable to the Asus Transformer TF300T model only (includes US, Taiwan and Global versions). It will not work with any other device. Verify your device's model number by navigating to Settings > About tablet and also check if it reads "TW" or "US" or "WW" at the start of the build number.
  • Download the corresponding firmware file that matches with the build number of your phone. If you install incorrect firmware, it may brick or cause irreparable damage to your device. So, please exercise caution. Check out the download links below:

a) US Firmware

b) TW Firmware

c) WW Firmware

  • IBTimes UK advises users to backup apps, critical data and settings (bookmarks, contacts, SMS, APNs and other internet settings) to avoid data loss while installing the Jelly Bean update.

How to install official Jelly Bean update on Asus Transformer Pad TF300T

Step 1: Extract the zip file downloaded in prerequisites to obtain another .zip file, which is the update file we need to install official Jelly Bean on the tablet. Copy this .zip file to the internal memory on the tablet.

Step 2: Reboot your tablet after copying the .zip file to it. When the tablet boots up, you will receive a notification next to the clock on the tablet. Click on this notification and follow on-screen instructions to update your device.

Step 3: Once the update is installed, your device will be running the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean firmware on it.
NOTE: If you want to root your device after the update or install a custom recovery on it, you can follow our guide posted here to do so.
