Preview

Radwanska and Suarez-Navarro will both be desperate to secure their place in the semi-final of the first grand slam of the season.

The 26-year-old Pole is coming into the match on the back of a three-set victory against Anna-Lena Friedsam. Radwanska has lost in two quarter-final grand slam appearances since 2013 and has reached a semi-final four times during her career.

Suarez-Navarro, meanwhile, is entering the match on the back of a three-set victory over Daria Gavrilova. The 27-year-old Spaniard has never previously progressed to the semi-final of a grand slam in her career, having lost all four of her previous quarter-final appearances.

The duo have played each other on three previous occasions, with Radwanska having won two of those meetings. During their last match, however, Suarez Navarro was the winner, defeating her opponent in the 2015 Miami Masters in three sets.

What the players say

Agnieszka Radwanska: "I'm just very, very happy to do another quarter-final here. Always feeling good here. I really like the atmosphere. I like the courts. Been great. So I just hope I can go further and do one step forward, make the final. But, well, every match is going to be for sure not easier. So I just try to keep it up, play better and better because that's what I need for the second week of the Grand Slam."

Carla Suarez-Navarro: "I know her really good. We have really tough matches in the past. She won the last tournament of the last year, the Masters. She started the season really good. She won the tournament.

"I know will be tough for me. I know that because her style, you have to run a lot, you have to think every point what to do. But I think I'm ready. I'm really enjoy playing here in Melbourne. I'm really happy to be in the next round. I want more. I want more."
