Idris Elba has revealed that he and Thor co-star Tom Hiddleston will appear in next year's Marvel epic Avengers: Age of Ultron.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the 42-year-old Brit said: "I'm in Avengers and I'm doing a scene with Chris Hemsworth [as Thor] and Tom Hiddleston [as Loki]."

This is the first that has been heard of the appearance of Asgardians other than Thor in the movie, and was probably intended to be a secret. We're sure Elba can be expecting an angry call from his Marvel paymasters shortly.

Elba also revealed that the scene was shot recently, indicating – based on past scenes shot well after the bulk of filming – that it will be one of Marvel's patented post-credits scenes.

Speculation will now of course turn to the manner of their appearances in Joss Whedon's super-sized sequel to the third highest grossing film of all time. Not wanting to spoil anything further we won't speculate anyway.

The additions of Hiddleston and Elba just add to an already huge cast topped by Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlet Johansson, Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, James Spader, Paul Bettany, and Andy Serkis.

Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released on 24 April, 2015. The first trailer was released last month prior to Marvel detailing their plans for future film releases through until 2019.
