A high-profile investigation is underway in Istanbul following the 'unexplained' death of 27-year-old fashion influencer Ayşegül Eraslan, whose body was discovered by police after her frantic family raised the alarm.

The social media star, who commanded over 361,000 followers and rose to fame on the hit TV show İşte Benim Stilim ('This Is My Style'), was found unresponsive in her Kağıthane district home on 13 March 2026.

Chilling surveillance footage has since emerged as a 'central pillar' of the inquiry, reportedly showing Turkish actor Sunay Kurtuluş entering the building shortly before the estimated time of death. While Kurtuluş has been questioned and released, insisting he was not present when the tragedy occurred, the lack of a clear cause of death has sparked a firestorm of speculation across Turkey's fashion and entertainment industries.

Body Discovered After Family Raised Alarm

According to People, Eraslan's family became concerned after they were unable to contact her and went to her residence in the Kağıthane district on 13 March. When there was no response, police were called and forced entry into the apartment, where she was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was subsequently transferred for a post-mortem examination as officials attempt to determine the exact cause of death.

CCTV Footage Adds New Layer to Investigation

A key development in the case involves surveillance footage reviewed by investigators. 'People' stated that Sunay Kurtuluş was seen entering Eraslan's building shortly before her estimated time of death.

In remarks shared through his legal representatives, Kurtuluş said he was 'only questioned as part of the investigation and has provided the necessary statements to the relevant authorities from the very beginning of the process' and insisted he 'not at the scene of the incident at the time it occurred.'

He also criticised speculation surrounding his involvement, stating that suggestions linking him to the death were unfounded. Officials have not named any suspects, and there is no indication at this stage that charges have been filed.

Final Days and Last Public Post

Investigators are also examining Eraslan's movements in the days before her death. According to the report, she had recently returned to Istanbul from a trip to Egypt on 11 March, just two days before she was found dead.

Her final social media activity came on 12 March, when she shared posts from what appeared to be a recent visit to Los Angeles. The timing of these posts has contributed to uncertainty surrounding her final hours, as there were no public indications of distress or concern.

Rising Profile in Fashion and Social Media

Eraslan had built a significant online following, with more than 361,000 on Instagram, where she regularly shared fashion content, lifestyle updates, and travel imagery.

She first gained wider recognition through her appearance on the show İşte Benim Stilim, which helped launch her career in the fashion industry.

Her sudden death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from followers, many expressing shock at the loss of a young and rising figure in the influencer space.

Investigation Continues as Questions Remain

Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of death, and the case remains open as forensic analysis continues. While CCTV footage has added a new dimension to the investigation, officials have not publicly linked any individual to wrongdoing. The combination of an unexplained death, a visitor captured on camera, and limited confirmed details has left key questions unanswered.

As the inquiry progresses, investigators are expected to rely on forensic results, digital evidence, and witness accounts to determine what led to Eraslan's death. For now, the case remains unresolved, with authorities continuing to piece together the final moments of a young woman whose life and career ended abruptly.
