FC Barcelona have revealed their 2025/26 away kit, a striking collaboration with Nike and the Kobe Bryant brand that honours the late basketball icon's Mamba Mentality. Released on 29 July 2025, the kit is the first in football history to feature the Kobe Sheath logo in place of Nike's swoosh, marking a significant moment in club apparel.

'This isn't just another shirt. It's a tribute to one of sport's most relentless competitors', said Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Why the Kit's Colours and Design Pay Tribute to Kobe

The kit's Team Gold base, accented with Persian Violet and black, mirrors the LA Lakers colours that Bryant wore during his 20-year NBA career. A snakeskin jacquard pattern is woven into the shirt and crest, referencing Bryant's 'Black Mamba' persona. Both the Barça crest and Kobe Sheath logo feature 3D silicone detailing for a premium finish.

The black shorts incorporate violet trim and snakeskin accents, while the black socks are finished with 'Barça' across the calf and the Sheath emblem on the shin.

What Is the 'Mamba Collection' and Why Does It Matter?

The away kit headlines Nike's broader Mamba Collection, which features training wear, lifestyle apparel and caps. Limited-edition Kobe 4 Protro and Air Force 1 Protro shoes are also included.

'Kobe was all about discipline and constant improvement', said a Nike spokesperson. 'We wanted this collection to reflect those values, and Barcelona was the perfect partner'.

To promote the kit, Nike launched a campaign titled 'Mamba Rondo,' which uses Barcelona's famous rondo training drill as a metaphor for Bryant's focus on precision and teamwork. Narrated by first-team coach Hansi Flick, the campaign video stars Gavi, Frenkie de Jong and Alejandro Balde alongside Alexia Putellas and Claudia Pina.

How the Three-Year Barcelona–Kobe Partnership Strengthens Legacy

The kit launch is part of a three-year deal between Barcelona and the Kobe Bryant brand, running through the 2027/28 season. According to Laporta, the partnership underlines Bryant's strong ties to the club, where he was a lifelong supporter.

'Kobe admired the way we played football', Laporta said. 'We hope this kit inspires players and fans to share his mindset of striving for excellence every day'.

The collaboration also demonstrates Nike's ambition to integrate the Kobe brand across global sports, with Barcelona becoming the first football club to display the Sheath logo on official matchwear.

When Will the New Kit Be Worn and How Much Does It Cost?

The kit went on sale on 29 July 2025 via Barça stores, Nike outlets and online platforms. Replica shirts retail at £105 ($135), while authentic match shirts cost £150 ($193). According to retail data, more than 60% of initial stock sold out in the first 48 hours, reflecting exceptional demand.

Barcelona will debut the away kit during their pre-season match against FC Seoul on 31 July 2025, part of their Asian tour. The fixture is expected to draw a crowd of more than 55,000 at Seoul's World Cup Stadium.

Why This Kit Is More Than a Shirt

The 2025/26 away kit is more than a piece of clothing. Its snakeskin pattern, gold-and-violet palette and Kobe Sheath emblem connect Barcelona's football heritage with Bryant's enduring legacy.

'Greatness recognises greatness. This kit is about carrying forward Kobe's message: better is the only choice', Laporta summarised.
