Kate Winslet and her husband Ned Rocknroll have guaranteed that their newborn baby boy will always be up for a cuddle - they have named him Bear.

The Titanic star and Rocknroll, the nephew of Virgin boss Richard Branson, welcomed the 9lb infant at an NHS hospital earlier this month. The unusual moniker was confirmed by the star's spokeswoman over the weekend.

A source told the Sun: "They are all doing so well. They both absolutely adore him – and the name Bear."

Having RocknRoll as a second name too might have been one step too far, so it comes as no surprise the parents have chosen to stick with Winslet for their son.

Bear joins Mia, from her first marriage, to Jim Threapleton, and son Joe from her second marriage, to Sam Mendes.

Rocknroll was born Ned Abel Smith but changed his name by deed poll.

Winslet previously said that she had no plans to change her surname.

"I was never going to change my name to Rocknroll. I've never changed my name to anything so I didn't see a reason to start now," she told Us magazine.

Winslet is the latest in a long line of celebrities who have ignored fears of their child being mocked by picking an unusual name.

Bear joins Apple, Zuma and Audio Science in the list of celeb ofdfspring with odd monickers.

In June, reality star Kim Kardashian and her fiancé Kanye West welcomed a daughter by the name of North West.
