His relationship with Kim Kardashian appears to be going swimmingly and now Kanye West has even more to celebrate after scoring the most nominations for this year's BET Awards.

The 34-year-old rapper is up for seven gongs at the annual music ceremony.

While his heralded Watch the Throne collaboration with Jay-Z earned him six nods in the Best Group, Collaboration, and Viewer's Choice categories, he also in the running for the Video Director of the Year award.

Following closely behind his Jay Z's other half Beyoncé who has been nominated for six awards.

The 30-year-old singer is up for the Best Female R&B Artist, Best Collaboration for Party with J. Cole and two Video of the Year category for her fan favourites Love on Top and Countdown.

Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Drake are amongst the other artists up for multiple awards.

Meanwhile music heartthrobs, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Miguel, Trey Songz and Usher will all battle it out for the Best Male R&B Artist award.

The 2012 Black Entertainment Television Awards is due to take place on July 1 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Veteran Hollywood actor Samuel L Jackson will host the ceremony and Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj have been confirmed to perform at the show.
