The Big Bang Theory Season 8 is set to be back with a bang, with Penny's new career and tension between Amy and Sheldon.
The one-hour premiere episode of the eighth season is titled "Locomotion Interruption".
The official synopsis of the episode reads: Leonard and Amy take an unexpected road trip to Arizona to pick up Sheldon. Meanwhile, Penny interviews for a job at Bernadette's company and Howard is weirded out by Stuart's relationship with Mrs. Wolowitz.
Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy Farrah Fowler, drops a few hints at an interview over the Emmy weekend. Although Sheldon comes back in the first episode, it is unknown as how long Sheldon has been gone from the rest of the gang. Also, his abrupt decision to leave the city affected his relationship with Amy. Are they heading for a break up this season?
"We'll deal with it," says Bialik, "but there's tension in that first episode." Instead of turning to the one person who has stood by him through just about everything, Sheldon ran away. While Bialik didn't reveal much, she did say that their situation will be dealt with, reports glamour.com.
Bialick posted this picture of hers and Jim parsons on Instagram. She captaioned it, "Rehearsing outside with @therealjimparsons."
As for Penny's new job change, from struggling actress to pharmaceutical representative, Bialik thinks it's a good thing. "I love it, I really do. I think it's awesome for Kaley."
She goes on to explain that Penny has "always been the socially dominant one in our character dynamic, so I think it's really special that she'll be competing in a different arena.
"But that's not to say that everything's going to be one big sorority party for the three gals on the show. In episode two, Amy pits Bernadette and Penny against each other," which will of course shake things up," she said.
Bialik also posted a click of hers as Amy, after shooting the premiere episode, "Wrapping episode 1 of season 8!"
When asked whether Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting's super-chic haircut will be written into the show, she says, "Yep, she'll have it cut!"
"They joke about it in the first episode between her and Sheldon. It's fun." Bialik is also a fan of it in real life. "She wears it in a ponytail, she puts clips in it, she wears it every which way! She's the best person ever. It's super cute," she added.
