Overview

Liverpool will travel to Turf Moor for their second consecutive away match against Burnley following their trip to London to face Arsenal on the opening weekend of the 2016/17 season. They will be in a buoyant mood following their win over the Gunners and Jurgen Klopp will be keen to continue their solid start to the season and maintain pace with Manchester United, who recorded their second consecutive win in the league on Friday night against Southampton.

The Reds will welcome back James Milner and Daniel Sturridge into the fold as the duo returned to training earlier in the week. The duo are likely to start on the bench; however, the former could be drafted in to play at left-back after Alberto Moreno struggled during the opening game of the season.

Burnley, on the other hand, suffered an opening day loss at the hands of Swansea City and will be keen to open their account on the points table. They returned to the Premier League this summer after gaining automatic promotion and Sean Dyche will be hoping to avoid dropping down to the Championship after just one campaign in the Premier League.

Steven Defour

The Clarets' home form will be key to their survival in the top flight, but they will be wary of Liverpool's attack, who are in form following their four-goal spree against Arsenal. The Reds' defence, however, is culpable and could be breached by the likes of Sam Vokes and Andre Gray. Burnley's record signing Steven Defour is likely to make his debut when the Reds visit and he will be a vital cog in their midfield, which will have to deal with the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson.
