Cameron: Doubts Diminish On Syrian Chemical Weapons Use
British Prime Minister David Cameron said on Wednesday (May 8) that there was "a growing body of limited but persuasive information" showing that the Syrian government had used and was continuing to use chemical weapons such as sarin gas.
"In Syria the atrocities continue to mount. And I can tell the House today that there is a growing body of limited but persuasive information showing that the regime has used and continues to use chemical weapons, including sarin. And the room for doubt about this continues to diminish. Now we will continue to take action on every front, working with our allies, backing the opposition, pushing for a political solution. This morning I spoke to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on his return from Russia. There is an urgent need to start a proper negotiation to force a political negotiation and to bring this conflict to an end and I will be flying to Sochi on Friday to meet with President Putin to discuss this issue further."
