Candace Owens has earned a reputation for being one of the most controversial political commentators of her generation, never shying away from spreading unfounded claims about high-profile figures like Donald Trump, Charlie Kirk, and Erika Kirk. She also doesn't seem to think about the consequences of her actions.

Owens appears unfazed by all the criticism thrown her way and continues to speak her mind, causing a divide among the public. Her latest comments have sparked yet another round of controversy, this time over the ongoing US-Israel-Iran war and Trump's handling of it.

Candace Owens Criticises Trump

It comes as little surprise that Owens has already weighed in on the conflict, and she has made it clear she is not on Trump's side. On X, she urged Americans planning to join the military not to go through with their applications, accusing the president of betraying them by expecting troops to die for Israel. According to posts circulating on the platform, Owens said there was 'no honor in all of this' because Americans were being lied to.

The comments divided opinion online. Some netizens pushed back, questioning why she thought she could dictate what Americans should do. Others were thrilled to see a former Trump supporter publicly challenge the president's decisions. Some users also shared memes showing Trump shaking hands with military men while, according to the captions, sending them off to die for America.

Trump's Awkward Comment About Americans Dying

Owens' remarks followed Trump's comments after six US Army Reserve soldiers were killed in an Iranian drone strike on a military installation at Port Shuaiba, Kuwait on 1 March 2026. The troops, aged between 20 and 42 and drawn from an Iowa-based logistics unit, were the first Americans to die in action since the US and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury against Iran. Speaking to reporters after their deaths, Trump acknowledged that further casualties were likely. 'But in the end, it's going to be a great deal for the world,' he said.

A video posted to his Truth Social account also showed the president addressing the nation, declaring that there would be more deaths before the war ended. 'That's the way it is. Likely be more. But we'll do everything possible where that won't be the case,' he said. The phrase drew widespread anger from those who felt troops and innocent people could die because of a war that was not well thought out.

A Shift in Rhetoric

Owens was once an avid Trump supporter, but the relationship began to sour around late 2025 when she started openly criticising his Middle East policy, calling his Gaza plan a 'disaster' and accusing him of enabling the Israeli government. She has also pushed back against the narrative that if America falls, Israel falls. During her interview with Piers Morgan, she claimed that Trump would not have started the war if not for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's orders.

'There was no imminent threat to the United States when Trump made this decision to do what Bibi wanted. I want to be clear here. This was not Trump's decision; it was Bibi Netanyahu's decision. And that is why he did it. We're very aware that Israel is dictating our foreign policy and we would now like that to stop,' she said.
