CBB's fancy new logo hints at a star-studded line-up Channel 5

Celebrity Big Brother 2016 is on the horizon with just one more day to go until the premiere (28 July). Big names have been tipped for the new series including rapper Lil' Kim and former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos.

There may be a range of diverse characters awaiting to strut past CBB host Emma Willis upon their arrival, but they all have one thing in common: they're doing it for a career boost.

And when big characters wanting to reignite their relevance come to blows, or are even left alone for a certain amount of time, interesting things start to happen.

So as we gear up for the first episode of this summer's CBB to grace Channel 5 for the foreseeable future, IBTimes UK reflects on some of the most memorable moments in the show's history.

  1. The Lee, Jasmin and Casey saga

Never was there a love triangle like January 2015's CBB involving Lee Ryan from noughties boyband Blue, aspiring Hollywood actress Jasmin Waltz and model Casey Batchelor. Lee went back and forth from each girl like a yo-yo in the house, and pursued a relationship with Jasmin once he was evicted, but as you might have guessed, it lasted just as long as his solo career.

  1. George Galloway purr-fection

A politician looking to embarrass himself on national television should try pretending to be a cat while crouching on all fours and purring. Though it was for a task, the former Respect Party candidate lost a lot of, er, respect for his actions in the 2006 series. Licking imaginary milk from the hands of actress Rula Lenska before she rubbed "cream" from his "whiskers" and stroked his head was the last straw.

  1. David Bowie/David Gest confusion

There wasn't a bigger comedy of errors than when Tiffany Pollard got confused when she misunderstood Angie Bowie speaking of her ex-husband David Bowie dying while she was inside the house. Television personality Pollard was in hysterics following the eye-gauging conversation with Angie, and ironically, Gest passed away just six months after appearing on the January 2016 series.

  1. Liz Jones wondering what it's like to drown

She was one of the least-liked housemates during the January 2014 series of CBB, but when Daily Mail columnist Liz Jones – who has suffered from anorexia and depression in the past – wondered what it felt like to drown it created an awkward and rather tense atmosphere as she sat in the bath pondering the morbid thought with a nervous-looking Luisa Zissman. Poor Liz!

Celebrity Big Brother begins on 30 July at 9pm on Channel 5.
