Chelsea are reportedly interested in Vitesse Arhmen striker Wilfried Bony. The 23 year old Ivory Coast striker has scored 12 goals in 11 games for the Dutch club this season, leading the club to third in the Eredivise, four points off leaders FC Twente. The Daily Mail report suggests he could be available for approximately £8m. The player recently extended his contract with the club, which now runs till 2015.

The Blues never quite replaced former striker Didier Drogba. The powerhouse centre-forward, also from the Ivory Coast, scored 160 goals in 344 appearances for the club. His greatest contribution, however, was surely in the dying months of last season, his last with the club, when he scored in the final of the FA Cup and the Champions League to give the Blues their maiden European triumph and salvaged an otherwise disastrous season.

In the weeks leading up to Drogba's departure - he joined Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenua - he stressed £50m flop, Fernando Torres, was more than capable of taking on goal-scoring responsibility for the club. Unfortunately, although the former Liverpool striker has had a better season so far than last year, his return of seven goals in 18 appearances this campaign has not exactly set Stamford Bridge alight.

It now appears club owner Roman Abramovich and Di Matteo, after toying with the idea of a similarly sized mega-bid for Atletico Madrid's Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, have found their new Drogba. Bony has also been praised by the Dutch club's defender, Tomas Kalas, who is actually on loan from Chelsea, as being the answer to Di Matteo's problems.

"Chelsea need a player like him [Bony] at the moment. Torres is always moving and works hard, but he is not strong enough to lead the line. I'm sorry for Torres, but that's my personal opinion," Kalas explained, adding, "Bony has so much quality. It's incredible how strong he is and he's excellent on the ball, too. I can understand why he has been linked with Chelsea and other clubs. It will be impossible for Vitesse to hold on to him if he keeps this up. Perhaps we'll play together at Chelsea in the future. That would be great."

Meanwhile, Chelsea's summer signing, Nigerian winger Victor Moses, is enjoying his start at the London club. The 21 year old, who signed from Wigan Athletic for £9m, scored the winning goal in the club's 3-2 Champions League group stage win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

"I have been delighted, it is been great for me so far at Chelsea. With the quality of players we have got, I learn from them as well," the former Latics star said, adding, "That is the only way you can improve - playing around good players such as this."
