When Chelsea fans saw their team lift the Premier League trophy in May, never in their worst nightmares would they have thought that the club would be battling relegation eight months later.

A woeful start to the season saw idolised manager Jose Mourinho dismissed and interim boss Guus Hiddink parachuted in. The club sit in 14th place, just three points above the relegation zone, with dreams of retaining the title long vanquished and even hopes of qualifying for the Champions League hanging by a thread.

With such a sorry state of affairs, it remains to be seen which players exactly could be brought into the club, and perhaps more importantly who could be on their way out. Rumours about the departures of Branislav Ivanovic and Diego Costa, two players instrumental in the club's title victory last season, have been circulating. But whether such stars would leave in January or wait until the summer remains to be seen.

IBTimes UK sports editor Nick Howson gives his views on who could be coming in and out of Stamford Bridge in the next few weeks.
