Hefty commissions and bumper bonuses have been to blame for the range of mis-selling scandals across the globe.

However, a controversial and landmark ruling by the European courts, in tandem with benchmark empirical data being released, could radically change the way sales people operate.

The European Union has overruled British law so that sales staff will be allowed to reel in bumper commission payments even if they're on holiday.

Meanwhile, this week, the first ever set of empirical data on sales staff commission, incentive and pay packages was released by software giant Xactly.
