Daredevil season 2
Charlie Cox plays Matt Murdock in Daredevil Netflix

Netflix has released the first look of the new and upgraded Daredevil costume that Matt Murdock will sport in the Marvel series' second season.

The official Twitter account of Daredevil has shared an image of the upgraded superhero suit that the blind, street vigilante will wear.

By the end of season 1 of Daredevil, Murdock (Charlie Cox) donned his official costume, after the blind lawyer felt he needed something tougher than just a shirt to fight villains.

In the second season, Murdock is likely to face Jon Bernthal who would play The Punisher, Elodie Yung as Elektra, and probably more members of The Hand -- a clan of ninjas known for giving serious beat-downs. Hence, the vigilante will need a tougher suit to protect him.

Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada has dished about introducing both The Punisher and Elektra and what fans can expect in season 2.

Quesada told IGN, "We're so happy to have Jon Bernthal because we have such a world-class cast on Daredevil; we have a world-class actor in Charlie Cox that we want to make sure we chose and were able to attain an actor who is on that same level so I think the combination of seeing Charlie and John perform those parts on the same screen. It's going to be epic, absolutely epic."

While, The Punisher is the anti-hero, Elektra is the love interest of the superhero Daredevil, but her violent nature and mercenary lifestyle eventually divides the two in the comics.

Speaking about Elodie Yung as Elektra, the Marvel CCO said, "I can't say enough about Elodie Yung. Literally, we scoured the world for the right Elektra and, man, she is the character. She looks like the character, she walks like the character, and then she has the martial arts training and stunt background that she can rely on."

Quesada added, "It's going to be really, really awesome to see her take over the role and see how she embodies and how she personifies Elektra. But again, another world-class actor who I think is going to bring something really special to Daredevil. And I think we established a really good tempo with Season 1, so fans can hopefully expect much more of the same."

Daredevil season 2 is set to premiere on Netflix in 2016.
