Dolly Parton's Manager Files Restraining Order Against Nephew Bryan Seaver Alleging 'Killer' Threats

Dolly Parton's estate has obtained a temporary restraining order against her nephew Bryan Seaver after a Tennessee filing accused him of making threatening statements and attempting to interfere with the singer's business operations.

The action was filed on 22 September by She's Alive, LLC, an entity established by Parton to protect her legacy, with longtime manager Danny Nozell involved in seeking protection for the estate's personnel and business partners. Reports on the case say the order was granted the same day.

Dolly Parton Estate Details Alleged Threats

The filing came after Seaver's removal from Parton's properties in mid-September. It was reported that his termination took effect on 15 September, while a termination letter was dated 16 September.

Seaver had worked as Parton's head of security for more than 20 years, succeeding his father, Larry Seaver, according to current reports. The dispute now reaches beyond a private family disagreement, involving the people responsible for managing Parton's trusts, businesses and commercial relationships after her death.

The petition alleges that Seaver began demanding money while 'invoking his self-proclaimed military-contractor experience, access to weapons, and capacity for violence'. It further alleges that his conduct developed into a campaign of 'threats, intimidation, and coercion' directed at people connected to Parton's business interests.

The petition includes messages allegedly sent by Seaver. One reportedly stated, 'Her money better be bigger than I can make elsewhere or I'm going to f*ck everyone. I am about to become the hand of retribution for my entire family.'

Another alleged message read, 'I'm going to set up a podcast dedicated to ruining Dolly's brand partnership and telling the violations these people have done on us.'

The filing also quotes Seaver as allegedly writing, 'All I do is warfare ... everyone needs to be worried about what I might do.' Other messages cited in the petition include, 'I'm not an entertainment person. I'm a killer,' and a pledge to 'ratf*ck every entity I can possibly conjure'.

Those statements are allegations contained in a court filing. They have not been established as facts by a court, and the petition's description of the messages reflects the estate's account of the dispute.

The action seeks restrictions on Seaver's contact with the estate's business operations, employees and partners. The original request also sought to keep him 1,000 feet away from company offices, although that requested distance should not automatically be treated as the full scope of the order granted on 22 September.

The filing identifies She's Alive, LLC as the entity seeking protection. Current reports also refer to the DP Dean Trust in connection with Seaver's termination and to Squadron Augmented Protection Services, LLC, or SAPS, as Seaver's security company.

Pinnacle Bank has been identified in reports as involved in administration and oversight following Parton's death, but the available details do not establish that it made the decision to terminate Seaver.

Bryan Seaver Denies Allegations

Seaver denies that his messages amounted to threats and says they were taken out of context. In comments reported, he described himself as 'a career soldier and military contractor' who conducts arms deals for foreign governments.

'I am a security professional and I am a killer,' Seaver said. He added, 'Nothing in this lawsuit were threats and most of the comments I stand by.'

Seaver characterised his exchanges with Nozell as private conversations between people who were grieving. 'I was talking frankly in a private way with Danny who I thought was my friend and he fancies himself a gangster,' he said. 'A lot of these messages are two guys having rage talk and crying on the phone together while we were grieving.'

He also said the alleged 'ratf*ck' comment referred to business partners he believed had treated Parton badly.

'I was talking about people that have done bad to Dolly in business, a specific company that scared her and intimated her,' Seaver said. 'Those comments were about specific, horrible business partners that have done wrong to her and I stand by that.'

Parton died in Nashville on 25 August 2026, at age 80, according to her official website. Seaver delivered the family's announcement through Parton's social media accounts, making the timing of his later removal from the security operation especially striking.

A temporary restraining order was reportedly granted on 22 September after She's Alive, LLC and Nozell sought restrictions covering Seaver's contact with the estate's operations and partners. The allegations remain disputed, and the wider legal proceedings are continuing.
