Bryan Seaver, Dolly Parton's nephew and her longtime head of security, has reportedly been fired from his role protecting the late country music icon's properties, weeks after he publicly announced her death.

Seaver is the son of Parton's sister Cassie and had worked as the singer's head of security for more than two decades. His family connection to the role reportedly goes back even further, with his father, Larry, previously serving as Parton's security chief.

Seaver also became a public face for the family following Parton's death, when he announced her passing in an emotional video shared on her Instagram account. The country music legend died on 25 August at the age of 80 after what was reported as a short battle with cancer

Seaver Was Chosen To Announce Parton's Death

Why Was Bryan Seaver Fired?

According to TMZ, Seaver received a termination notice dated Wednesday, 16 September, informing him that he and his security companies were immediately dismissed from Parton's properties.

Replacement security personnel subsequently took over at her main Nashville home, museum, downtown residence and warehouse.

The reported notice does not publicly establish why Seaver was removed from the position. The reports available so far do not include a detailed explanation from Parton's estate for the decision.

Seaver and members of his security team were 'dismayed by the unexpected' and 'unexplained' move, according to the outlet. 'We remain unshakably resolved to fulfill her final directive to protect her family, and we refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much,' they said.
