Elon Musk has regained his trillionaire status after a sharp rally in SpaceX shares sent his estimated fortune soaring by $30.6 billion in a single day. SpaceX shares climbed more than 5% to $167 on Monday morning, while Tesla shares added over 1%, giving Musk another boost.

The gains pushed his estimated wealth back above $1 trillion, a milestone he first reached in June when he became the world's first trillionaire.

SpaceX Shares Lead Musk's Wealth Increase

SpaceX's share-price performance was the main driver of Monday's increase in Musk's estimated fortune. The stock gained more than 5% by 10:30 a.m. EDT on Monday after Morgan Stanley analysts suggested the shares were undervalued. SpaceX has also attracted investor attention following Starship's successful orbital flight the previous week, when the spacecraft reached orbit for the first time.

Tesla provided an additional boost. Its shares continued to climb on Monday after the electric vehicle maker reported better-than-expected third-quarter deliveries last week. Because Musk's fortune is closely tied to his holdings in both companies, movements in their share prices can produce large changes in his estimated net worth.

Musk's Fortune Has Moved Sharply in Recent Sessions

Monday's $30.6 billion increase followed an even larger gain on Friday. Musk's fortune rose by about $61 billion that day as SpaceX and Tesla shares advanced. Tesla's delivery figures provided additional support for the stock, while gains in SpaceX increased the value attributed to Musk's private-company holdings.

The swings highlight how quickly Musk's estimated wealth can change when the valuations of his largest assets move. The $30.6 billion increase does not represent a cash payment to Musk. It reflects the changing estimated value of the assets and company stakes included in his fortune. Musk had remained close to the trillion-dollar threshold in recent days before Monday's gains pushed the estimate above it.

SpaceX Shares Remain Well Above Their IPO Price

SpaceX shares began trading at $135. At $167, they were roughly 24% above that initial price, according to the supplied reporting. The company's financial results provide a more mixed picture of its performance.

SpaceX reported revenue of $18.67 billion in 2025, up 33% from the previous year. However, the company also reported a net loss of $4.94 billion, compared with a profit of $791 million a year earlier. The contrast between the company's financial results and its share-price performance is significant as investors assess its valuation and future growth prospects.

Musk Still Has a Wide Lead Over Bezos

The latest estimate leaves Musk substantially ahead of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Bezos had an estimated fortune of $371.5 billion, according to the figures reported on Monday. That placed him more than $628 billion behind Musk.

Musk's position at the top of the wealth rankings has been closely linked to the performance and valuation of his major business interests, particularly SpaceX and Tesla. His first trillion-dollar milestone came in June after SpaceX began trading on Nasdaq. His fortune subsequently fell below the threshold as SpaceX and Tesla shares declined.

SpaceXAI Rebrand Adds Another Development

The wealth milestone comes as Musk pursues a separate change involving SpaceX's artificial intelligence business. Musk said SpaceXAI, the SpaceX subsidiary that operates the Grok chatbot, would be renamed SpaceXSI.

The proposed change follows President Donald Trump's push to replace the term artificial intelligence with 'super intelligence'. Trump signed an executive order last week directing the government to use the term 'super intelligence', while Musk endorsed the change on X. However, the supplied reporting said SpaceX had not appeared to take formal steps to rebrand the business as of Monday morning.

For investors watching Musk's fortune, the immediate focus remains on the valuations of SpaceX and Tesla, whose latest market moves have pushed his estimated wealth back above the $1 trillion level.
