Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are set to divorce after just two years of marriage. TMZ reports that the Hollywood actress filed documents on Monday (19 September) citing irreconcilable differences. She's is seeking physical custody of the couple's six children: Maddox, 14; Pax, 12; Zahara, 11; Shiloh, nine, and seven-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

The couple, who fell in love on the set of 2005 action movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith, tied the knot in August 2014 in a private ceremony in the south of France, surrounded by close family and friends.

Jolie is being represented by 'Disso queen' Laura Wasser, the attorney that most recently represented fellow A-lister Johnny Depp in his divorce from Amber Heard.

Insiders tell TMZ that the 41-year-old star became"fed up" with the World War Z star's consumption of weed and possibly alcohol. She is said to have also feared that his alleged "anger problem" could became dangerous for the children.

Their marriage has been dogged with divorce rumours for months, with insiders claiming the marriage woes have contributed to the actress's drastic weight loss.

In March, InTouch magazine quoted a source who said that Jolie has become "pale, gaunt, and exhausted". The source feared the growing tensions between the pair could lead to an emotional breakdown.

"The strain of fighting with him and their impending divorce have sapped her strength and caused her to lose even more weight. It's going to be bad if she doesn't put the brakes on soon. She's overworked, overstressed, and emotionally overburdened. She's headed for a complete physical and emotional breakdown," the source continued.

The Maleficent actress was previously married to Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. Pitt's marriage to first wife Jennifer Aniston ended after five years in 2005.
