Fabio Capello has told Wayne Rooney he will not be picked for England's first XI until he serves the one-match ban imposed after the striker was sent off against Montenegro Friday.

Rooney's dismissal soured the 2-2 draw in Podgorica that ensured England's qualification for the Euro 2012 Championships in Poland and Ukraine next summer.

The Manchester United striker will now miss England's opening match at the Finals and could be handed a two-match ban following a UEFA disciplinary meeting next month.
