Root Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 Leaked Test Firmware

Samsung's brand new Android 4.3 test firmware, N7100XXUEMJ5, has been leaked for Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100. As this is an unbranded firmware, it can be installed on any unlocked Galaxy Note 2.

Those who have already upgraded their Note 2 to the latest Android 4.3 leaked firmware can follow our guide to root the same in simple steps. Rooting the phone is essential in order to install third-party root apps, custom ROMs and latest system tweaks.

The rooting package given in this guide automatically installs ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery and hence there is no need to install any custom recovery tool separately.

Pre-Requisites

• The given rooting tool and instructions are meant for Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 model only. Do not attempt this procedure on any other device, as it may inadvertently damage or brick the device. Verify the device model number by navigating to Settings > About Phone.
• Backup your important data and settings on the phone to prevent data loss during root installation.
• Ensure the correct USB drivers are installed for the phone on computer (download Galaxy Note 2 N7100 USB drivers).
• Make sure that the phone has at least 80% battery charge before you begin.
• Disable Samsung KIES as well as any security software installed on the computer.

How to Root Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 Leaked Test Firmware on Galaxy Note 2 N7100

• Download the CWM Root package (from above link) to yourcomputer and extract the zip file to obtain .tar.md5 file.

• Download ODIN v3.07(from above link) and extract Odin v3.07.exe which is needed to root Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 Jelly Bean firmwareon Galaxy Note 2 N7100.

• Power off the phone and boot it into Download Mode. To do so, press and hold Volume Down and Home buttons together, and then tap Power button until the Samsung logo with red and yellow text appears on screen. Then tap Power again to confirm entry into Download Mode.

• Launch ODIN on computer and connect your phone to it while the phone is still inDownloadMode.

• When the phone connects successfully, one of the ID: COM boxes will turn yellow with the corresponding COM port number. This step may take some time, so leave it alone.

• Now choose the file that needs to be flashed or installed on your phone, which can be found from the extracted file in Step 1: Click the 'PDA' button and choose the file 'cwm6-root-note2.tar.md5'.
• Enable Auto Reboot and F. Reset Timeoptions in ODIN, but leave all other options at their default settings.

• Now click Start button in ODIN and the root installation process will begin. It would take just a few minutes to complete.

• Once the root installation is complete, your phone will automatically reboot into Recovery Mode and install the root package. Your device ID: COM box will also turn green, suggesting the root installation is successful.

• When the home screen boots up, just disconnect your phone from computer. NOTE: If the device fails to bootintoRecovery Modeautomatically or if rooting fails, then just repeat the entire procedure again.

• OPTIONAL: If the root is still not installed, once again perform the entire tutorial, but make sure that "Auto Reboot" option is NOT checked in ODIN. Then once root installation completes, do the following:

1. Remove the battery to Power off the phone forcefully.
2. Now boot the phone by pressing Volume Up, Home and Power buttons to enter Recovery Mode manually. This will initiate the root installation process on your phone.

Your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is now rooted on Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 leaked test firmware. Check for the SuperSU app in your apps list to verify.
