At first glance, Australian model Andrej Pejic is simply stunning. With striking blue eyes, high cheekbones and flawless skin, it is impossible not to stare.

On closer inspection, however, it soon becomes apparent that the beautiful blonde is, in fact, a man.

The 20-year-old androgynous male, who is the only top-tier fashion model to hit the runway as a man and at other times a woman, is now causing a stir in the world of fashion.

With a frenzy of media attention over the past year, his androgynous beauty has not only made him a hot commodity in the fashion world, it has also turned him into a trendsetter.

The 6'1" beauty, now one of the most recognisable and controversial faces on today's fashion scene, is in high demand for photo shoots, magazine covers and runway shows.

"He's just this beautiful thing that everyone wants a piece of," said stylist Ken Anderson, who dressed Pejic for a German magazine cover.

Although Pejic is new to modelling, he already has an impressive CV after landing gigs with heavyweight designers Marc Jacobs and John Galliano.

The renowned and French designer John Paul Gaultier also used Pejic as a muse for his 2011 mens and womenswear shows, where Gaultier crowned Pejic with the prized piece in the womenswear collection, a couture wedding dress.

According to Fox News, in 2011 alone the maverick model graced the cover of an impressive 14 magazines, including an ad campaign for a Dutch push-up bra.
