Blizzard Entertainment has announced that its popular card game Hearthstone has passed 70 million players worldwide. To celebrate the milestone, Blizzard is giving away three free Journey to Un'Goro card packs to everyone who plays the game in May.

Brand new players will also receive the free packs.

"It's a good thing that there's always room for one more, because the tavern has now welcomed over 70 million players!" Blizzard said in a blog post on Monday.

"We're humbled and grateful that so many players have chosen to join us for some Hearthstone fun."

The developer also revealed that when the Journey to Un'Goro expansion launched in April, Hearthstone broke its record for the most daily players, but Blizzard didn't specify how many this was.

The game's fifth expansion, Journey to Un'Goro, introduced 135 new cards, unique Legendary Quests and some new gameplay mechanics.

In April 2016, Blizzard announced that Hearthstone topped 50 million players worldwide just before the release of its Whispers of the Old Gods expansion.

Since its release in 2014, Hearthstone's fanbase has continued to grow as Blizzard supports its beloved card game with regular updates, weekly events, sweeping changes, expansions and a fiercely competitive eSports scene.

"We look forward to sharing many more years of Hearthstone with you. Hold on to your mug, and let's find out where the journey will take us, together," Blizzard said.
