The latest Sims 4 update, released globally alongside the Enchanted by Nature expansion in July 2025, has triggered widespread technical issues, including broken mods, unresponsive cheats, and bizarre in-game behaviour. Electronic Arts (EA), the publisher behind the long-running simulation game, has not yet issued a full fix, leaving a frustrated player base scrambling for solutions.

What the Update Was Supposed to Fix

The Enchanted by Nature expansion, designed to celebrate The Sims franchise's ongoing 25th anniversary, introduced new gameplay elements including nature-inspired content, visual upgrades and user interface improvements. EA stated that the patch aimed to streamline ageing systems, improve stability and enhance player control features.

The patch was intended to refresh core elements without disturbing legacy gameplay. However, early reports from the community indicate that the update may have created more problems than it solved.

Bizarre Pregnancy Bug Sends Shockwaves Through Game

One of the most disruptive outcomes of the latest patch is what players are calling a 'pregnancy epidemic'. As reported by PC Gamer, loads of Sims, including male Sims and vampires, are now being marked as pregnant even though they have never engaged in 'woo‑hoo' or any romantic interactions. In certain cases, NPCs (non-playable characters) not even present on the active lot were discovered to be pregnant.

This bug also affects other core systems, including vampire feeding mechanics, which are disabled when a Sim is pregnant. As a result, many players are unable to progress their vampire households, forcing them to revert to earlier save files or abandon gameplay altogether.

Mods Crashing and Failing Post-Update

Popular mods, such as MC Command Center and UI Cheats Extension, have been rendered inoperable following the update. These tools, widely used for family management, relationship controls, and population balance, are now either partially functioning or causing game crashes.

Creators have confirmed that changes to the game's scripting systems are to blame. Modders are now racing to issue updates compatible with the latest patch, but delays are expected. Players using mod-heavy save files are advised to disable them or risk game-breaking consequences.

Cheats No Longer Reliable

Reports also indicate that common cheats used for gameplay convenience are failing. Commands such as 'testingcheats true', 'cas.fulleditmode', and building cheats like 'bb.moveobjects' are intermittently unresponsive or trigger unexpected behaviour. In some instances, inputting these cheats causes the game to freeze or display error messages.

Players relying on cheats for storytelling, speed builds, or family dynamics are finding themselves unable to play as normal. Some have reverted to clean save files, while others have paused gameplay entirely pending an official fix.

Player Reaction Highlights Growing Frustration

Online forums and social media platforms are filled with player complaints. One fan wrote: 'EA is turning The Sims 4 into their endless live service like Fortnite. No sequel. Just countless updates and DLC. I doubt The Sims 5 will ever happen. If it does, it won't be for at least another decade'. Others have flagged issues with broken lot loading screens, deleted Sims and glitched objects.

The EA Answers HQ forum now hosts dozens of bug reports tied to the July update. Players are sharing temporary workarounds, such as disabling autonomous actions or clearing cache folders, though results have varied.

EA Acknowledges Bug but Offers No Immediate Fix

EA has acknowledged the problems and issued a brief statement via its official support channels. The company confirmed that it is investigating the pregnancy bug and mod compatibility concerns but has not yet provided a timeline for a corrective patch. Players have been encouraged to disable mods and use the 'Repair Game' function within the EA App or Origin.

As of 8 August, the issue remains unresolved, and players continue to report new glitches emerging from the recent patch.
