Scheana Shay has never been one to hold back, but her new memoir My Good Side takes candid to another level—lifting the curtain on her romantic past, her sexuality, and even a steamy connection with John Mayer.
The Vanderpump Rules alum, now 40, has revealed a roster of former flings that reads like a red carpet roll call. From actors and singers to athletes across the NFL, NBA and MLB, Shay's memoir is part confession, part celebrity exposé, but always unapologetically honest.
'A Real-Life Fantasy': Jesse Metcalfe and Guitar Serenades
Among the revelations in My Good Side, Jesse Metcalfe, star of Desperate Housewives and John Tucker Must Die, receives one of the gentlest portrayals. Shay recounts late-night serenades and dinners with his parents, writing: 'Overall, Jesse and I had a great time together... It felt like I was living a real-life fantasy with this guy I'd watched on TV and in movies for years.'
Metcalfe himself isn't shying away from the revelation. Speaking on Tori Spelling's Misspelling podcast, he said, 'She spoke highly of me, which was nice. It was a long time ago... pretty brief, but we were seeing each other on a regular basis.' He even joked about trying to keep the chapter from his current girlfriend.
Eddie Cibrian: A Weekly Booty Call Before Social Media
Shay also details her alleged affair with Sunset Beach and Third Watch actor Eddie Cibrian, who at the time was married to Brandi Glanville. 'The second we made eye contact, he smiled at me with those dimples, and I melted,' she writes, describing their secretive encounters as a 'weekly booty call.'
Shay claims she didn't realise he was married at first: 'He never wore a wedding ring, and this was pre-social media.' Their brief yet intense fling took place around 2006—well before Cibrian's headline-grabbing relationship with LeAnn Rimes.
John Mayer and the Phone Sex Phase
But perhaps the most eyebrow-raising name in the book is John Mayer. The pair allegedly dated casually for six months around 2008, overlapping with Shay's non-exclusive fling with Cibrian. According to Shay, Mayer was very into phone sex, something she admits she was 'willing to do' to keep him interested.
That relationship ended abruptly after a friend allegedly leaked details to the press. 'Once it was public, he didn't want to speak to me or see me anymore,' Shay recalls. Despite the fallout, she says she kept some details private 'out of respect' for Mayer's current friendships, notably with Andy Cohen. 'I'm not trying to burn any bridges with this book,' she told People. 'I'm just trying to tell my truth.'
From Boy-Band Heartthrobs to Athletes
Shay's celebrity encounters don't stop there. She names 'Notebook' actors, Jesse McCartney, JC Chasez, Adrian Grenier, Shemar Moore, Josh Hopkins, and more, many of whom she says were casual flings, not serious romances. 'I said to myself, "Okay Scheana, you've tried dating (or at least hanging out and hooking up with) all of these celebrities,"' she writes. 'It's time to switch things up.'
Eventually, she says she grew tired of the drama that came with dating in the limelight. 'I wanted to be with someone who was grounded,' she wrote of meeting now-husband Brock Davies.
No One's Off Limits — Not Even Herself
Shay admits she could've gone into even more detail but held back to be respectful. 'I'm not trying to throw anyone under the bus,' she explains. 'There are things I probably could have gone deeper on... but I put everything in the book that I wanted to.'
From questioning her sexuality to navigating the scandalous restraining order drama with Vanderpump Rules co-star Rachel Leviss, Shay's book is as revealing as it is reflective.
Whether or not every celebrity mentioned will appreciate their cameo remains to be seen. But one thing's clear: My Good Side is Scheana Shay's no-holds-barred version of events.
