Beyoncé has become the latest celebrity to show her support for Frank Ocean after the rapper revealed his first true love was a man.

On her Tumblr page, 30-year old Beyoncé, whose husband Jay-Z's most recent album featured a collaboration with Ocean, posted an ode celebrating the 24-year old's admission.

The tribute, which is superimposed over a black and white image of Ocean, reads: "Be fearless. Be honest. Be generous. Be brave. Be poetic. Be open. Be free. Be yourself. Be in love. Be happy. Be inspiration."

Ocean, a member of the Odd Future collective and protege of hip-hop legend Kanye West, recently made headlines when he become the first male hip-hop star to open up about his sexual identity, using his own Tumblr page as the platform to make the candid and unexpected admission.

"Four summers ago, I met somebody", he wrote. "I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Every day almost. And on the days we were together, time would glide. Most of the day I'd see him, and his smile.

"By the time I realised I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless. There was no escaping, no negotiating [with] the women I had been with, the ones I cared for and thought I was in love with.

"I don't have any secrets I need kept any more. Thanks. To my first love, I'm grateful for you," he added.

Ocean's admission has already received praise from Russell Simmons, co-founder of prominent hip-hop label Def Jam. Simmons praised the star's "courage and honesty", adding:

"I am profoundly moved by the courage and honesty of Frank Ocean. Your decision to go public about your sexual orientation gives hope and light to so many young people still living in fear."

However, not everyone from the music industry was so positive. Rapper Khia wrote on Twitter: "Hats off to Frank Ocean, at least he finally told the truth... now all the women he fooled can finally know the truth!"
