A new report from the United States claims Princess Diana made a secret audio tape for Prince William and his future wife, as the Princess of Wales felt she would not be around to see her eldest son get married.

A close friend of Diana has revealed that the secret tape contained parental advice, and the woman who was known as the 'Queen of Hearts' talked about her future daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

The report, published in US magazine the Globe, also alleges that Princess Diana had a premonition of her own death as she thought she had made some "dangerous" enemies.

The revelations come less than a month after the sixteenth anniversary of Diana's death, and just a few weeks after a new probe into her tragic death began following a former SAS sniper's allegation that Diana's car crash was plotted.

Diana, along with her companion, Dodi Fayed, died in an accident in Paris on 31 August, 1997.

Diana's message for Kate Middleton

Although Princess Diana never met Kate Middleton, her tape predicted that William's bride would be "beautiful, smart and independent."

She added: "I know I'd adore you and we'd be fast friends. You'd have to be someone truly special. If you weren't, you wouldn't be William's wife."

The female voice in the recording also urged Prince William and his future wife to let their children know that their grandmother would always love them.

"Cherish your children for me. Let them know I'll love them and watch over them."

She also warned her future daughter-in-law that being a future Queen makes marriage more difficult, and advised her to keep her marriage safe from the pressures of public life.

Is it Diana's voice in the tape?

While there has been no official confirmation about the authenticity of the audio tape, a close confidante of Princess Diana said the voice in the tape matched with Diana's.

"Oh my God, I know her choice of words, the way she would say things and this sounds exactly like her. I knew Diana very well during the last 18 months of her life," businesswoman Lana Marks told Mail Online, adding that the content in the tape also matched with what Diana had told her about William and his family.

"Diana discussed with me in great detail what she wanted for William in terms of a wife, children – what she wanted for his future. When I hear the contents of the tape, they echo what she discussed with me in great detail. It is uncanny," Marks concluded.
