Overview

Japan's most famous tennis player Nishikori is one of the rising stars on the ATP circuit and he is most certainly living up to the hype. The World No 6 may not have won a clay-court tournament so far, but he has been one of the most consistent players this year.

Nishikori has taken this form into the ongoing French Open beating Simone Bolelli and Andrey Kuznetsov in straight sets while just about squeezing past Fernando Verdasco in the third round on 27 May. A win here might set him up for a probable quarter-final match-up with Andy Murray.

World No 12 Gasquet comes into this clash on the back of some impressive form beating Australian Nick Kyrgios 6-2, 7-6, 6-2 in the third round. Gasquet who is the home nation's last surviving hope leads head-to-head with Nishikori but goes into the game as the underdog.
