Overview

After the end of an exciting 2015 ICC World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the most absorbing domestic T20 cricket league will be back in action, starting Wednesday. It will be a new season in which those who played against each other just a month back will be in the same team.

The Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions and their skipper Gautam Gambhir will be keen on winning it for a third time. They have a very good squad at their disposal after making minor tweaks prior to the start of the tournament.

The Knight Riders will play their first game at home against the Mumbai Indians, who will be led by Indian opener Rohit Sharma. They are known for having star-studded players in their squad and this year the list includes Aaron Finch, Corey Anderson, Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga.

The Mumbai Indians' bowling attack is spearheaded by pace bowlers, while the Knight Riders will rely heavily on spin. A win for either side at the Eden Gardens will be a massive boost as they will be starting this year's IPL on a high.
