Lamar Odom the former husband of TV reality star Khloe Kardashian is in hospital after he was found unconscious Tuesday (13 October) at a Nevada brothel. The Nye County Sheriff's Department said the 35-year-old was taken to the Desert View Hospital in nearby Pahrump before being transferred to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.

In a statement, the sheriff's office said it received a call at about 3.15pm local time to Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada about 70 miles from Las Vegas that there was an unresponsive man requiring ambulance. Attempts were made to airlift Odom to Las Vegas but the 6-foot 10 inch basketball player was too tall for the helicopter.

He was then driven by ambulance to the hospital. TMZ said that both Khloe and Kim Kardashian are reported to be heading to the hospital to see Odom, together with their mother Kris Jenner.

TMZ sources said that Odom arrived at the ranch on Saturday and was partying for several days. A woman had gone into Odom's room in the VIP suite and found him unconscious on Tuesday. Although there are no official confirmation on his condition, TMZ said Odom is said to be "fighting for his life."

Odom and Khloe married in 2009 after a whirlwind romance but in 2013, Khloe filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalised in July this year.

In an interview with E! News recently, Khloe said how Odom will always be part of her life. "I will never, ever not love Lamar. I was so obsessed with him in a healthy way. He was my husband, and I still wish he was, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that."

She added: "There's nothing I can do. Lamar has to do things in order to change in that aspect, but yeah, if I had my way I'd be married to Lamar in two seconds."

Odom was born in Queens, New York, where he was raised by his grandmother after his mother died of cancer when he was 12. His father was a drug addict. He has a daughter, Destiny and a son Lamar Jr from a previous relationship with Liza Monzales. Their six month old child Jayden died of SIDS in 2006.
