Liverpool will take on Sion in the midweek Europa League clash at Anfield on 1 October, Thursday.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 8.05pm BST. Live coverage of the match will be available on BT Sport Europe.

Overview

Liverpool will be hoping to seal their first Europa League win of this season when they face Sion at home on Thursday. The opening group stage fixture saw the Reds settle for a 1-1 draw against Bordeaux.

They have not enjoyed a great start to the season in all competitions. The Merseyside club sealed their first league victory against Aston Villa since their 1-0 win over AFC Bournemouth in August.

Brendan Rodgers will be looking to field a different team for the clash against Sion. He may give opportunities to those who have spent more time on the bench or have failed to make it to the match day squad for league fixtures.

Meanwhile, Sion started the competition on a positive note as they sealed a 2-1 victory over Rubin Kazan at home in the first fixture of the Europa League. The Swiss outfit's manager Didier Tholot will be looking to take advantage of Liverpool's poor run when they face them at Anfield.

What managers say

Brendan Rodgers: "Our approach to this game is how it's been in the competition – this is an opportunity for young players and an opportunity for players on the fringe of the team that aren't getting so many game."
