Thousands of London's iconic Black Cabs are gathering together in Trafalgar Square to protest at the introduction of the Uber taxi app in the city.

The Cabbies are protesting not so much at the creators of the Uber app but at Transport for London, who they believe are not regulating the situation properly - putting their livelihoods at risk.

Uber for their part are not backing down, taking out a full page ad in London's free Metro newspaper ahead of the protest, and even launching UberTaxi - which lets black cabs grab some of the Uber action if the drivers sign up.
