A man succumbed to his injuries after he was stabbed in the neck in Merseyside on Tuesday.

Police said the victim, believed to be 30, was found on the Kingsway in Huyton at 9 pm. Though he was immediately rushed to hospital, the yet-to-be-identified man died shortly.

"Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man sustained a knife wound to his neck on Kingsway at around 9pm on Tuesday," BBC quoted a police spokeswoman as saying.

"At this early stage of the investigation, the motive of the attack is not yet known and we ask anyone who has seen anything suspicious in the area at the time to come forward."

"The scene has been cordoned off for forensic examination and officers are carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area," she said.
