Edin Dzeko has been targeted by La Liga outfit Valencia who are keen on signing the Manchester City striker in the ongoing transfer window, according to talkSPORT.

The report states that the Singaporean billionaire Peter Lim, who was poised to complete his deal in acquiring the Spanish club on Tuesday, will make funds available for manager Juan Antonio Pizzi to bolster his squad this month.

Pizzi is reportedly an admirer of the 27-year-old and wants to bring the striker to the Mestalla to bolster his squad in a bid to maintain their chances of competing in Europe next season.

"I hope my offer is accepted. €40m for signings seems too small to me. I have €50m to spend this month," Lim told AS.

"I like football a lot, and I hope all goes well. My intentions are good and the offer is good," he added.

Dzeko finds himself down the pecking order behind Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo who arrived from Sevilla last summer. The 27-year-old has failed to establish himself as the club's first choice striker since his move from Wolfsburg in January 2011.

When Manuel Pellegrini was without the services of Aguero, due to a hamstring injury; Dzeko grabbed the opportunity in the Argentine's absence scoring six goals in the last eight games played in all competitions.

The Bosnian international also opened the scoring during his team's hard fought 2-0 victory in the league against Newcastle United at St James' Park last Sunday.

The 27-year-old has scored 14 goals in the Premier League in each of his last two campaigns despite not starting in more than 16 league matches each season.

It is unlikely that the Chilean will allow the striker to leave as any injury to Negredo or Aguero could blunt his side's attacking prowess. The Citizens are competing for silverware in all four fronts in the current campaign. City are currently second in the league table with 47 points after 21 matches, just one behind leaders Arsenal.

Meanwhile, City have sent John Guidetti on loan to Stoke City till the end of the season. The 21-year-old is yet to make an appearance in the league for the Citizens, since his arrival in 2008.

Prior to his current loan move, Guidetti spent three loan spells outside of England and enjoyed his last one in 2011/12 campaign with Feyenoord in the Eredivisie scoring 20 goals in 23 matches.
