Manchester United winger Nani could well be on his way out of the club after his agent Jorge Mendes admitted that the 26 year old was interested in joining Italian side Roma.

Nani's future at Old Trafford has been in doubt for much of this year after falling out of favour under Sir Alex Ferguson and seeing United complete a deal for exciting young winger Wilfried Zaha to join the club for the upcoming season.

The Portugal international made just 10 league appearances last season as he found himself struggling to convince Ferguson that he deserved a regular game time. He could well face a similar problem this season with Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Zaha all competing for a starting berth.

Should new manager David Moyes feel as though Nani is no longer needed then it seems the winger would be interested in plying his trade in Serie A.

"Nani is a good player - the whole world knows it," Mendes told Radio Mana."Will he go to Roma? Why not?

"Serie A is one of the best leagues in the world and Rome is a beautiful city. There is the possibility that he will leave United, but at the minute nothing is concrete. We will meet Manchester United and see, but there is interest."

The Metro believes that Nani has already met with Moyes in order to discuss his future at the club and has been informed that there will be no guarantee of regular first team action next season.

Nani has just 12 months remaining on his current contract and it seems there has been little to indication that United are willing to discuss a new deal.

It is unlikely that Manchester United will be able to recoup much of the £17.3m they paid for Nani back in the summer of 2007, with reports suggesting that only last month Galatasaray refused to pay £8.5m for the former Sporting Lisbon winger.
