Manchester United face Liverpool in the second leg of the Europa League last 16 tie at Old Trafford on Thursday, 17 March.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 8:05pm GMT. Live coverage of the match will be available on BT Sport Europe. Radio commentary of the game will be available on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Overview

United come into the fixture after settling for a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup quarter-final clash against West Ham United at home. Dimitri Payet should have been sent off in the second half for diving inside the penalty box as he was already on a yellow card.

However, Payet continued to play and minutes after the incident and scored a brilliant free kick to give the Hammers the lead. Anthony Martial's late goal helped Louis van Gaal's side to come back into the game and force a replay.

Liverpool defeated the Red Devils 2-0 in the first leg at Anfield and that was their last fixture. The Reds have had enough time to prepare for the crucial clash as they look to seal a berth in the last eight of Europe's second tier club competition.

Jurgen Klopp will be looking for a victory when Liverpool face United in order to avoid any complications during the second leg at Old Trafford. It should be seen whether the hosts will be able to bounce back when they face their arch-rivals on Thursday.

What managers say

Louis van Gaal: "Yes, but we owe always to the fans a big result because the fans are paying to see that. We have to deliver. But in sport you can lose and you can win; that you have to accept. It's very difficult but you have to accept that."

Jurgen Klopp: "I am not scared or something like this. It's not perfect. It's not 5-0 or 6-0. It's not a holiday. It is really hard work. I have no problem with this. I knew this before the draw, I knew it after the draw. I knew it before the first leg and after the first leg. Now we are here. We want to take this chance for us. That is all. If you want something with all you have, it doesn't mean you get it. But we have a chance to work for it and that is what we try to do."
