Honda rider Marc Marquez took pole at the 2017 Argentina Grand Prix and the defending champion will start Sunday's (9 April) race at the Termas de Río Hondo Circuit from the front.

Qualifying review

The qualifying session of the Grand Prix took place in difficult conditions due to rain. Honda rider Dani Pedrso and Valentino Rossi made it to the Q2 after finishing in the top two spots in Q1.

Marquez clocked the fastest time in the final qualifying session on Saturday and took the top spot by clocking a time of 1:47.512s. The reigning champion had a difficult time at the Qatar Grand Prix, but has managed to bounce back in South America.

The Spaniard will lock horns with Aspar's Karel Abraham and LCR rider Cal Crutchlow from the front for Sunday's race. Marquez's Honda teammate Pedrosa will start the race from the fifth spot.

Qatar MotoGP winner Maverick Vinales finished the qualifying session in sixth, while Rossi was successful in finishing in the top 10 and will start the Argentina Grand Prix from the seventh spot after clocking a time of 1:49.272s.
