Godzilla goes to war in the new movie Warner Bros

The latest trailer for Gareth Edward's take on classic monster movie Godzilla shows all new footage and hints at the film's climatic showdown.

As you might expect, the trailers so far for Godzilla have focused on the titular super-beast himself, but this one gives a little more time to the real threat of the film – other monsters, who pose a huge threat to mankind.

The official synopsis reads: "An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence."

As the trailer suggests, this other beastie seen flying past a city skyscraper is awoken by scientists who unwillingly unleash it upon the world. In their desperation they turn to one thing that may be able to stop it – another monster they thought long-forgotten.

The trailer closes with Ken Watanabe (who narrates most of the trailer) saying "Let them fight", before a shot of the unnamed flying monster heading towards the iconic Godzilla.

Directed by Brit Gareth Edwards and starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and Sally Hawkins, Godzilla is set for release on 15 May.
