Nicki Minaj Gives 'Nothing' as One-Word Response About What To Expect From Next Album
Minaj's next album remains uncertain following her earlier cancellation statement and missed release date

Nicki Minaj gave fans a one-word answer about her next album during X Takeover in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, 10 October.
Asked what fans could expect, she chuckled and replied, 'Nothing,' before adding, 'Next question.' The exchange followed a year of mixed messages about a follow-up to Pink Friday 2.
Minaj had teased a March 2026 date, then announced that she would no longer release the album. Her brief response in Texas offered no indication of whether those plans had changed.
Audience members cheered when the question was raised, according to footage The Onika Magazine shared on X and an aniHeart report dated 13 October.
The gathering took place at Tesla's Giga Texas site. The official X Takeover website listed Minaj as a keynote speaker at the independently organised event, which focused on electric vehicles and technology.
Nicki Minaj's Album Tease Turned Into a Cancellation Statement
The uncertainty began on 24 September 2025, when Minaj returned to X following a social media break. She posted '3.27.26' alongside a CD emoji, prompting fans to interpret the date as a clue about her next album.
The numbers pointed to 27 March 2026, suggesting a release after Pink Friday 2. Yet the post gave no album title, track list or other details. March came and went without the anticipated studio release.

Less than a month after the initial tease, Minaj appeared to abandon the plan altogether. On 15 October 2025, she wrote on X, 'Ok I'm not going to put out the album anymore... No more music.'
She followed that declaration with, 'Hope you're happy now @sc Bye, Barbz. Love you for life.' The tag referred to an account associated with Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter.
The post emerged amid public disagreements involving the two artists. However, tagging Jay-Z did not prove he caused an album cancellation or prevented Minaj from releasing music.
Some online readers were unconvinced that her decision was permanent. In an October 2025 discussion on Reddit's r/popheads forum, one commenter wrote, 'Just like her 'retirement' back then, I doubt this will stick.' The comment didn't clarify what Minaj planned.
Her latest remark leaves room for different interpretations. She may have had nothing to announce at the event. It would be a leap to treat her joking answer as formal confirmation that she scrapped another album.
Nicki Minaj's Music Releases Since Pink Friday 2
Minaj's fifth studio album, Pink Friday 2, was released on 8 December 2023, following Queen in 2018. Its original edition included 22 tracks, according to her official store listing.
It included 'FTCU', 'Red Ruby Da Sleeze', 'Super Freaky Girl', and 'Last Time I Saw You'. Guests included Drake, Lil Wayne, Future, Lil Uzi Vert and Skillibeng. Minaj subsequently took the album on the road with her Pink Friday 2 World Tour in 2024.
The project also expanded after its initial release. Her official store lists 24 tracks on the Gag City Deluxe edition, including 'Beep Beep' featuring 50 Cent and 'Love Me Enough' featuring Monica and Keyshia Cole.

Pink Friday 2 was her last appearance on a recording. Minaj released 'Big Foot' in January 2024 and joined Juice WRLD on 'AGATS2 (Insecure)' in November that year. Her official website also lists a 'Banned From NO' remix with Lil Wayne.
Those releases predate her October 2025 cancellation statement, but they make one thing clear. Minaj has not followed Pink Friday 2 with a sixth studio album, although she released other music after its arrival.
For fans still awaiting that record, the question raised in Austin remains unanswered. The proposed March date has passed, and Minaj provided no replacement timetable in the reported exchange.
Whether she intends to return to the project is something only a further announcement can settle. On Saturday, when an audience asked her directly, Minaj chose not to say.
