Nicki Minaj may be the queen of male-dominated hip hop but the 31-year-old Young Money artist has revealed she will take a break from music when she starts a family.
Minaj, who has been with boyfriend Safaree Samuels for over 10 years, admits she has been inspired by power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z, who balance successful careers with bringing up their two-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy.
Speaking to L'Uomo Vogue magazine, she explained that when the time comes she will take an hiatus from the limelight to focus on her family.
"I don't want to work my whole life without ever experiencing the joys of a family. The time is not yet ripe, but when I decide to get married and become a mother, I would like to take a hiatus and dedicate myself completely to my child," Minaj said.
"Seeing Beyonce with her daughter and her husband was so tender, and it showed me that it is possible to be an animal on stage and a caring mother at the same time."
But fans expecting a mini Minaj may have to wait a little while longer as the Anaconda star said she was waiting for the "right moment".
"Family has always been very important to me, and that is why I want to wait until the right moment before starting my own. Right now I am too busy, but at a certain point the situation will change," she said.
Meanwhile, it has been a hectic few months for the star who recently scored her first number one single in the UK for Bang Bang, her collaborative track with Jessie J and Ariana Grande.
She joined Beyonce on stage during the Paris Leg of her On The Run Tour and has been confirmed as the host of this year's MTV Europe Music Awards.
