At least one person is dead and 19 others injured after a motorway flyover collapsed in the Brazilian World Cup host city of Belo Horizonte.

According to the Buenos Aires Herald, the bridge road collapsed onto a school bus and other vehicles beneath.

The accident happened in the north of the capital, where many international football teams have been based throughout their World Cup campaign.

11 fire engines and a helicopter arrived at the scene to aid those still trapped in the wreckage.

Live TV images showed what appeared to be a school bus and other vehicles trapped under the rubble.

The bridge was built especially for the FIFIA world cup.
