Parenthood revival 'will happen at some point' teases creator
'When the time is right I would love to revisit it,' says Jason Katims.
NBC's Parenthood ended on a happy note for the Braverman family, but fans of the series are still wondering if the show will return with a revival series. With Gilmore Girls returning for a revival, there is hope for Parenthood too, hinted series creator Jason Katims.
Katims recently attended the Television Critics Association summer press tour, to promote his new CBS medical drama Pure Genius, and gave fans an update on Parenthood's revival. He told TV Line, "There's nothing happening right now, but when the time is right I would love to revisit it."
However, the creator admitted he has been keeping a tab on Netflix's in-the-works Gilmore Girls revival, which also stars Parenthood actress Lauren Graham. "I asked someone who was working on it how they structured it and how it all worked. Because I was thinking that might happen [with Parenthood] down the road a few years."
The series finale of the NBC drama ended with a flash forward scene, featuring a basketball game, offering glimpses of where the main characters will end up several years into the future. Katims rightfully admitted that "more time has to pass" before a revival can realistically shape up.
Katims explained, "It would start at the moment when I feel like I have a story to tell. But the whole thing about Parenthood is the kids get a little older and their lives change and then there's more story to tell. I feel like that will happen at some point. And then it will be a question of, logistically, can we get the actors [back together] at the same time? And then we have to [find an outlet] that wants to [air] it."
Parenthood's season 6 finale aired on 29 January 2015 on NBC. Do you want to see a Parenthood revival? Let us know your opinion in the comments section below.
