Hollywood actress Meagan Good has defended her nipple-revealing, controversial choice of outfit for the 2013 BET Awards.
The 29-year-old star, who is also a preacher's wife, turned heads when she arrived on the red carpet in the skin-tight, long-sleeved gown, which hugged her curves and also featured a thigh-length slit.
Her outfit, which bore a resemblance to Jennifer Lopez's infamous Versace Dress at the 2000 Grammys, made headlines with reactions ranging from shock to amazement.
It was also a major topic of discussion within the Christian community with some claiming Good, who married DeVon Franklin, a TV/movie executive and Seventh Day Adventist preacher in 2012, was dressed inappropriately.
"Meagan Good introducing gospel artists... And is married to a pastor... Which is why I don't understand this dress," one unimpressed viewer tweeted.
But one admirer said: "Meagan Good's husband is proof that if you pay your tithes, the Lord will bless you properly."
Good has since responded to the backlash in an Instagram post insisting that "God knows my heart and that I didn't do anything wrong".
"My spirit is saddened that our people only know one way to think and process things... I'm not any less holy because the dress I wore [sic] - I may not be who people think I should be - but I'm morphing into exactly who God wants me to be," she wrote.
"My excuse is never 'I'm going to do me' and I don't feel that I need to make an excuse or defend or what I wore... I know I have a responsibility - and I'm working daily to fulfill the full potential of all God has created me to be.
"A dialogue was started about my character, integrity, my walk with God and my Husband - simply based on a dress that I wore.., Of course I'm going to have a reaction to people saying negative things... It's just sad... Makes me sad not regretful."
She went on to claim that Christians are often too quick to judge others saying: "It just makes me sad that us as Christians can't see beyond our initial reaction and don't seek God before the attack other brothers and sisters [sic].
"I had intentions on anything... Merely picked a dress I saw and loved... God knows my heart and that I didn't do anything wrong."
Last year Good was criticised for performing a sexy burlesque in Vegas for her bachelorette party.
