The post also drew attention after Paris Hilton left a comment saying 'Love you bro' on 20 September, hours before Gerber's death was publicly revealed.

Gerber's final post came several months after a more personal 26 March Instagram update about his treatment journey.

According to TMZ, Gerber shared a video from a treatment facility and described undergoing what he called an 'Ibogaine Flood Dose.' He wrote about being frightened by the experience and hoping it would be the last time he needed to undergo the treatment.

The post received messages of support from his family. Crawford called her son a 'warrior,' while Kaia Gerber wrote that she was proud of her brother.

Gerber had also used Instagram to discuss mental health, including through his 'Mental Health Mondays' series, which Reuters reported he launched in 2025.

On 11 August, Kaia discussed her brother's long struggle with drug addiction and its impact on their family in a Vogue interview.
