The recordings, obtained by People, capture the sequence relayed to Santa Monica Police Department units on the morning of Sunday, 20 September 2026.

Gerber, the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, was found unresponsive at a Los Angeles-area rehabilitation facility. He had spoken publicly for years about his mental health, depression and struggles with substance use.

What the Dispatch Audio Reveals

According to the audio, a call came in to the Santa Monica Police Department for a cardiac arrest at 9:35am, with a subsequent dispatch referencing an overdose.

That timeline matches the department's own account of events, with Santa Monica Police confirming officers were sent out after a report of a possible overdose at approximately 9:35am on 20 September.

Officers located an adult male who had already died upon arrival, with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner subsequently identifying the deceased as Gerber.

Santa Monica Police say there is currently no indication of foul play, while the official cause and manner of death remain pending further testing and investigative work.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office completed an examination on Monday, 21 September, but deferred the official cause and manner of death pending additional testing and/or studies.
