Prince Philip has made his first public appearance after undergoing a heart surgery.

The 90-year-old Duke of Edinburgh attended the New Year's Day Service at St Mary Magdalene church on the Sandringham estate, the Queen's Norfolk retreat.

The royal family, including the monarch, arrived by car to attend the service. The Duke then walked down a 400-metre distance to the church briskly, accompanied by Prince Edward. He was applauded by around 300 members of the public who gathered there.

Philip underwent an emergency surgery for a blocked coronary artery on the Christmas night at a Cambridgeshire hospital. He left the hospital on December 27.
